A Tax on Money I Never Spent

Worrier that I am, I keep worrying about a trading tax. Turns out I may only have to worry about a tax on trades I do not make (cancel): “Clinton Aims Party’s ‘Wall Street’ tax at Flash Boys, Not Banks”

If people continue to not make trades in increasing numbers we can get rid of our national debt!

More seriously. Can I stop worrying? Will this be good and have the intended effect?

What a peculiar idea…

In theory it is a good idea as Flash trading is essentially spamming the quote system. I suspect that implementation might have unintended consequences, such as increased auditing costs which could be spread across legitimate trades. There must be a better way to eliminate flash quotes that doesn’t involve increased regulation and associated costs.

Fantastic idea IMHO.
