This seems to be a data problem for JNS. See attached screenshot.
What coincidence. I asked about this last week because when we rebuilt the SP500 series the series #SPEPSTTM showed a huge spike. Looks like they won’t change it so we had to exclude it from the calculation for the year 2000. Here’s their explanation
"The reason you are seeing big a big change in the mnemonic EPSFXQ for this company and the time period is due to the accounting change that became effective at the end of 1999. We had a client request in 2000 that came in to update the EPS and share count for this company to be consistent with the accounting change, FASB 128. "
