I have been watching STRA for roughly the past 6 months, and CompleteStmt has always been zero. I spent about an hour reading the latest 10-Q at sec.gov and I could not find any suggestions that anything was incomplete. When P123 reports that a statement is incomplete, is there a way that I can verify that information at another source such as sec.gov?
I have an old screen download xls file from 5/30/14, and the screen reports CompleteStmt=0 for STRA on 5/30/14. However, when I run a screen today and change the as-of date to 5/30/14, the screen reports CompleteStmt=1. This appears to be an error.
This means that there was plenty of time for Compustat to finish processing the complete statement for the most recent quarter.
One theory: It looks like all the financials were already reported by the company in it’s “preliminary” statement (i.e. the press release for the second quarter’s earnings which was given in July, before the official 10Q filing) so Compustat may not have bothered to update the numbers and mark them as “Complete Statement”.

As you can see the CompleteStmt goes to zero everytime a new quarter is released except for Q1 of 2014. So it appears to be an error where the CompleteStmt was 0 when you downloaded it and it’s now no longer 0.
CompleteStmt for Q2 of '14, the current one, seems to be stuck at 0. I’ll have to investigate that too.
For Period Q1 3/31/14 Compustat flagged it completed on 5/27/14
For Period Q2 6/30/14 Compustat flagged it completed on 8/19/14
However the additional line items that came in on those dates are not line items we use, so we missed the signals. The current quarter is still flagged as incomplete because of that. Historically Q1 is forced to be complete once a new quarter comes in.
In short these are the current problems:
The latest filing is being flagged as incomplete which enables fallback for N/A’s (it shouldn’t)
Past filings being flagged as incomplete now being flagged as complete which disables fallback for N/A’s
These problems have the potential to cause differnt results when something is re-run in the future. This is very likely the exception to the rule, and should not cause major issues.
On a side note:
I would love to see P123 have some kind of a sticky posting with issue/bug/features that P123 is working on. I know you guys are very busy so I would suggest to keep it very simple and clean. It could even safe time for both P123 and its users as the number as postings regarding status updates could be reduced significantly. Please take this positively, it is just my two cents to help improve P123.
