Industry and Sector restrictions

You can now specify Industry or Sector restrictions when building a portfolio or when simulating. For example to eliminate tobacco and forestry stocks from consideration, enter the following Buy Rule (step 2 of the wizard):

Industry != TOBACO And Industry != LUMBER

Or to buy only from technology stocks enter this Buy Rule:

Sector = TECHNO

You can see all Industry and Sector codes from the Buy and Sell Rule input screens. These screens are the Steps 3, and 4 when specifying the parameters of a simulation, or when creating a portfolio using the wizard. In the bottom half of these screens:

  1. Select ‘FUNCTIONS’ in ‘Type’
  2. Select ‘INDUSTRY & SECTOR’ in ‘Category’
  3. Select ‘INDUSTRY’ or ‘SECTOR’ in ‘Factor/Function’
  4. Click on ‘Full Description…’

Marco,

I’m trying to do some screening and just want to screen in two industries. I have no problem screening for a single industry, for example:

Industry = BIOTRX

What do I do if I want both:

Industry = BIOTRX

and

Industry = SOFTWR

Thanks,

Marc :sunglasses:

Try:

(Industry = BIOTRX) OR (Industry = SOFTWR)

How can I find other industry codes to add in free form Rule? Like Industry=SOFTWR
I do not understand the post of Marco on jan 1, 1970

All:

 The tobacco companies are truly evil. They maim. They kill. Investing in them is blood money. Please don't.

You can find the full industry code list at this link. That is the full set of codes for the Industry, SubIndustry, Sector, SubSector and GICS functions.
