Lemonade Inc. -(LMND) and GoHealth, Inc. (GOCO) Snapshot Market Cap Error

LMND Snapshot Market Cap $740.45 M, it should be around $3.4b,and
GOCO Snapshot Market Cap $8.66b, it should be around $5.1b.

These are not necessarily errors. Different data providers calculate share counts differently. For LMND, FactSet doesn’t count convertible preferred shares as part of SharesQ or SharesFDQ but only as part of SharesBasic(0). For GOCO, FactSet counts class A, class B, and senior preferred shares as part of SharesQ and SharesFDQ but only classes A and B as part of SharesBasic(0). Portfolio123 and FactSet both use SharesQ as the basis for market cap. For both stocks, market cap calculated on the basis of SharesBasic(0) would match Compustat’s and your suggested numbers. So if you’d like to use SharesBasic(0)*Price as an alternative market cap calculation, you’re welcome to do so. Many users have come up with alternative formulas for market cap for situations like these. We have four ways to count current shares here: SharesQ, SharesFDQ, SharesBasic(0), and SharesCur(0). Between those, you can probably come up with a way to calculate market cap that will suit your preferences.

We’re planning to change our logic for market cap for exactly these reasons. The new logic will only use SharesQ as the last option. And it will also account for non traded issues. It won’t fix all the problems, but it does give the correct values for both these cases. We should have something very soon.

SharesBasic(0)? Is that documented?

Not at the moment. We’re working on updating our documentation too.

Ok, many thanks!
