New factor Price to Sales NTM makes Zoom & TSLA look cheap.

Dear All,

We released a new factor Pr2SalesNTM or “Price to sales Next Twelve Months”. With valuations seemingly out of control this factor might bring some comfort and maybe even make you pull the trigger in some of these “irrational” stocks.

Case in point see ZM & TSLA. Both have very high Pr2SalesTTM values (relative to their industries). But post earnings both Pr2SalesNTM fell considerably ( 58->31 & 10 → 7 ) whereas Pr2SalesTTM’s remained lofty or even higher.

Therefore

One could then justify buying ZM because last time it traded at around 31 multiple it was trading at less than $100

One could then justify buying TSLA because last time it traded at around 7 multiple it was trading at around $1,000

Enjoy

Disclosure: I own both

NOTE: this factor is available for both Compustat and FactSet users . Factset users could approximate this factor using MktCap / ConsEstMean(#SALENTM) but MktCap uses non-diluted shares whereas Pr2SalesNTM uses diluted shares.

Interesting.

That’s for the tip since I likely would not have thought of it.
