Re: Top 20 Stock Picking Contest 2020?

Yuval,

Please, provide links to kiplinger 20 stocks pick web page.

Does the have performance tracking for the past years recommendations? As crossing walstreet does.

https://www.kiplinger.com/slideshow/investing...-love-for-2020/index.html

No performance tracking. Looks like a one-off for them.

Re: Top 20 Stock Picking Contest 2020?

Here is my portfolio for 2020:

https://www.portfolio123.com/port_summary.jsp?portid=1595295

Ticker("OXY,SLB,VAL,CIGI,DOOO,FICO,GIB,GLT,GSB,HURN,JOUT,KBAL,LAWS,LFVN,MANT,PCOM,SENEA,SPNS,UTI,VCTR")

I keep the same small cap strategy of last year but I added three energy stocks (OXY,SLB,VAL) to the mix because I think this sector is going to perform a lot better than last year.

Happy investing in 2020!

Re: Top 20 Stock Picking Contest 2020?

kumar,

I created those ranking systems a long time ago and I'm sure they were most definitely curve-fit. I haven't looked at the factors in a long time, but I do remember they all still made sense overall, so it doesn't surprise me that the ranking continues to do well, most likely with small caps as that's probably what I had tailored it to long ago.

Over the past couple years, I've completely transitioned to investing only in broad index ETFs such as VTI and QQQ, and some others to help strike a balance between return and risk. You can look at some of my designer models for more info. I created the designer models mostly to hopefully prove that index fund/ETF investing with some timing indicators to keep drawdown under control can keep up or beat the other designer models. Time will tell if my theory is accurate.

I don't have any financial industry experience. I'm a web application developer actually. I started dabbling in investing when I was 18 years old, and have learned a lot over the years. I haven't started seriously investing until the past couple of years and when I looked at the history of my stock strategies, I realized it's a lot simpler and probably all equal to keep it simple and only hold a handful of ETFs for long periods of time.

And with that being said... good luck to all in the 2020 Stock Picking Contest!
