time lag between earnings releases and data being reflected in P123

As this is earnings season, i was wondering how long before a given companies quarterly filings are reflected in the underlying database, and how do we know which filings are current?

I seem to recall that S&P has said that they will fill in the S&P 500’s fundamentals within 48 hours of the release, but I could be misremembering. I think that they have enough of a priority for those companies that I would expect it the next day.

I found the email that I got from them explaing that they expect all other companies to update from 14 to 25 business days from the release date, so that’s not from memory. To be clear, this is the point at which they consider it a problem. Most companies will be updated at the earlier end of that, even before the 14 days.

As for Portfolio123, we have a flag that indicates a “final statement” which means in this case a 10-Q, 10-K or equivalent 8-K for foreign companies reporting through the SEC. The ranking tool’s Ranks page has a column that shows it as Y or N.

In a ruleset you can use this rule to filter out those companies with preliminary info:

CompleteStmt=True

My opinion is that you shouldn’t do that, though. You’ll end up investing in stuff long after the material is known to the market, and our fallback algorithm will usually fill in the blanks so that you won’t have increased turnover due to missing data.

Great, Thank yo Paul!.
