Updated download format to CSV

Hello everyone,

We’ve changed the format of our site wide downloads to valid CSV (comma separated values) format, the old format has been a constant source of frustration for many of you because Excel always issued a warning when trying to open a file.

We apologize for the inconvenience to those of you who use automatic scripts to read them but this is a for more compliant format that all programming languages have parsing support for.

As usual, we welcome any feedback.

The Portfolio123 Team

P123 Team,
Changing download format from .xls extension and tab delimited data to .csv extension and comma separated data is no big deal. But, the unexpected on the fly change is a huge deal, which then needs a frantic scramble on our side to get our scripts updated. Instead of apologizing in advance for the scripting inconvenience, an advance notice of such a change would have been better.

I have to concur with Georg and it is a recurring theme.

While it is already better to do the change on a Tuesday than over the WE (right before Monday rebalance), a few weeks notice is the way to go for anything that is not critically urgent (which I assume is the case here).

This would allow me to plan the necessary time to adjust my code (building models is not my professional activity).
This means I now need to rush and find a few nights this week or change my WE plans revamping my code in time for next Monday.

I still love you guys but simply asking for a polite notice.

Thank you in advance,

Jerome

This is an excellent change. Thank you.

The CSV file for strategy holdings seem to have unneeded leading and trailing commas;
