The estimates are missing from our S&P database, however a non production database has them. This should not happen; both databases should be identical. The updates are automatic and not done by us, so some gremlin made the two databases different. The only option is to download the entire S&P database (takes about 1.5 days) and replace the existing one in production. While it’s troublesome I don’t think it’s a huge problem: some 10,000 consensus periods are missing from around 5 Million. You just happen to stumble in the 0.2%
S&P does not tell us that a complete refresh should be done every so often. But I think we will do that going forward.
Sorry about this. Hopefully we will be able to do it by tomorrow afternoon.
Missing everywhere. Sorry it’s taking long. The capable machine we were going to use to rebuilt the database is going through some upgrades, and it’s not ready yet. I hope to do it this week.
Hi Marco - just wanted to follow up. Some of my ranking systems rely on estimates and own several stocks with missing data. Any idea when the team might be able to fix this? Thanks.
Sorry about the delay. We’ve had some issues with the server upgrade. I think it’s ready today and we will be running a full estimate recalculation and posting it to production hopefully this weekend.
Almost there. We were finally able to move a brand new S&P database in the datacenter. Should be a able to to the last step tomorrow: to recreate the missing estimates.
It’s a big database , which takes days to reload, and we did not plan a way to quickly substitute it in a live environment. We confirmed with S&P that they recommend downloading a fresh copy every month or so. We’re creating a procedure to do so in a much smoother way.
Thanks, Marco. That sounds good. Really appreciate the P123 team working hard on this. Sounds like maybe the database will be updated by Monday’s rebalance notifications?
CSCO and several others are ok now. We downloaded a new copy of the S&P database and rebuilt the point in time weekly estimates. I’ll post more details soon. Thanks for reporting it.
Great news! Thanks, Marco. I just checked CSCO snapshot and still see N/A on the Actual vs. Estimate section. Will that update with an overnight cycle?
