New website updated. Will be live early January

Dear All,

The pre-release preview of our new site has been updated. We made some fixes and took your suggestions. Here’s the link again

https://alpha.portfolio123.com

There will be one more pre-release beginning of January before final launch in second week of January, if all goes well. Some of the things we are still working on is a better way to import transactions (from your broker download for example). Also some bug fixes in the integration between Invest & Research so that you can follow your models from Research (ex: “driving” the model from Invest is not working).

Also note that you can now read forums post in the alpha site. To post you will still have to go to live site.

Finally please note that the alpha site is running in the production database. Any changes you make there will stick.

Let us know if you have questions or concerns.

Thanks

I feel the copy needs more work. The “Include a glossy word or two for shine” and “Defang objections with an ‘even if’ clause” ideas may help.

Updated my bookmark. I’m glad you kept the little box for the bookmark logo!
The Research/Invest division is quite nice.

Pulling an error when trying to “follow” a “researched live portfolio” in an “invest account” on the weekend. The referred to trading day is not displayed, but I am guessing it has to do with the weekend. Is the goal to line up transactions for Monday? It would be nice to be able to allocate the Invest Account in following mode on a weekend and see the prices received on open or close when that happens next trading day. If it were a trade account then we would want it to update with actual prices received.

Here is the message I’m getting.
We successfully processed 0 transaction out of a total of 8.
Following are the first 5 errors found:
Line 1: Date is not a trading day
Line 2: Date is not a trading day
Line 3: Date is not a trading day
Line 4: Date is not a trading day
Line 5: Date is not a trading day

I’m loving the new watchlists, but they are not turning up any news under the news tab.

Best,
Ebenezer

Confirmed. Looks like is trying to insert transactions with weekend date for the Portfolio. I think using Monday is more correct , with Friday’s close.

NOTE: TRADE accounts only send orders. When orders complete the fills are converted to transactions. So if you follow a model with TRADE in the weekend the orders remain in the scheduled queue until market opens.

Also, the “research live portfolios” will be called “live strategies” & “strategy simulations” once we launch to avoid confusion. “Portfolios” are only on the invest side.

Thanks for reporting this.

I still can not log into the new site, please help, thank you Andreas

Andreas,
Have you tried changing your password to something simpler?
That worked for me.

Will you guys be including the “Dictionary-format Reference Index” page in the new website? (I can’t seem to find it under any of the new website’s menu headings, including the “Help” Icon .) I’ve always found that page to be very helpful. It lists all the Factors, Functions, Constants and IDs alphabetically.

26 Dec 2018 → Problem with login on IE (but not with firefox) on the alphasite
(might have been there before but first time I try to login with IE)

Upon login with IE (simple login w/o 2-factor), the website automatically sends to dashboard as the next page.
However, with IE, it triggers an error (see screenshot) and most of the links in INVEST have the same problem

IE bug getting to dashboard.pdf (65.1 KB)

… and along the same line, a programmatic login via IE using VBA fails (identic coding approach I have been using for years on the current live site)

When I allocate the user and password via code, I get the attached error (see screenshot) where the page seems to believe that there are no inputs in the relevant fields.
To login, I have to retake manual control and re-type in the webpage the user / password

Any and all help is appreciated.
Many thanks.

Jerome

Pb programmatic login with IE.pdf (40 KB)

I’ve addressed the JavaScript errors triggered while logging in using Internet Explorer 11; it’s not yet live.
As for Web Automation via VBA, setting the Value property on the inputs doesn’t raise a change event which will be required for the new login page to function correctly.
As a workaround, I would recommend calling Focus on each element and Application.SendKeys to emulate keyboard input.

Thank you Aaron.

On manual login → there is also another problem with the 2-factor login under IE 11. It does not get to the 2-factor page (I am using a vpn to test) with a similar error as before. You might have already fixed it with the fix-to-be-released…

On automation → I tried focus via VBA earlier w/o much success. I have not tried Application.SendKeys as seems to be prone to leading to accidental bugs. I also tried a javascript embedded in my VBA code but have never learnt js so I am stuck for the moment.
(I used this example to try to learn from scratch → https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38808191/click-on-html-element-and-generate-pop-up)

Is there a charitable soul with a strong programming background in the community who can help?

Many thanks,

Jerome

For the Forum on the new site, I don’t see a button to edit previously submitted Forum comments.

Hi Aaron,

when will the IE11 login fix go live for the alpha site? (including a fix to the 2-factor issue mentioned above)

Thanks,

Jerome

This fix should be now be live.

Confirmed - it works now with IE11 both with and without the 2-factor login.

Thank you

I found a bug in the new website. In the old website if you’re designing a node in a ranking system, you can type in the beginning of a command and you’ll get a dropdown menu showing possible commands using that word. You can then click on the question mark and a pop-up menu will arise giving you all the details you need. In the new website, if you click on the question mark, nothing happens.

P123,

 1. Can I pls request that the new release is made in the middle of a week and not over a Week-End. This is to avoid unforeseen bugs on Monday right at the time of rebalancing

 2. and (at the risk of sounding like a broken record) that the old version (current as of 16 Jan) remains live in parallel for several weeks (to sort out unforeseen page scraping issue)

Many thanks in advance,

Jerome

Has anyone got web scraping to work on the new site?

Hi Chaim,

I did sample tests, it seems to be the same html code for holdings & transactions pages. Need to really test in depth to be 100% sure.

However, the login page has changed significantly. Some serious difficulties in automating the login / password entry (see above in prior posts)
