CEFL, LMLP, SMHD, MORL

P123:

Why are these invalid symbols? They are all ETN's.

Bill

We are planning to add more ETNs to the database, but there’s no ETA at this point for it.

Thanks for the reply. I own these. It would be nice to be able to add them to a Port, and see how they're doing. There is definitely risk involved in owning, but they do pay substantial dividends.

So here we are more than a year later and CEFL etc are still not “recognised”. On the other hand BDCL is. Why the one and not the other?

I won’t make any firm promises, but I am working to get a large number of missing ETFs and ETNs into our system. There’s a bit of a backlog and it’s a bit time-consuming, but I expect you’ll see many new ETFs and ETNs show up soon.

Many thanks Yuval. Would it be possible to signal to us when the backlog is cleared?

Yes, I certainly will!

CEFL, LMLP, SMHD, and MORL are all classified as “structured products,” not ETNs. Currently there are 106 ETNs and 215 structured products that could be added to our database, but each one requires manual classification, which takes about ten minutes per ticker. And I don’t know if we’ll be getting information about these products once we switch to FactSet (I should know next week). Is there a real demand for this? Are certain tickers more important than others? Please keep in mind that these are NOT ETFs. We do want to have a pretty complete database for ETFs and CEFs, but I don’t know how important it is for us to keep track of all ETNs and other structured products.
