Update to Portfolio123 Site Design Coming Soon

To prepare Portfolio123 for upcoming new features, the site design has been updated.

You can try the new layout at https://beta.portfolio123.com

We welcome comments and suggestions.

A side note to scripting users: Please confirm that your scripts work with the beta site as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance for your feedback,

ted

Hi Ted,
any approx deadline to test our scripts? (I doubt I will have time before Sunday)
Thx
Jerome

The new menu structure is much simpler - I like it.

What happened to the simulations tab?

I like the redesign a lot. I especially like the new placement of the download buttons in the screener.

Live and Simulated Portfolios are shown together in the Portfolio section. You’ll see a top level “Simulated Portfolios” category on the left when you click on “MODELS > My Portfolios”.

Same for books.

One important thing is missing in the new design: the line at the top of the screen that says “SYSTEM: DATA AS OF 6/14/17.” That, to me, is vital, and I’d rather not lose it.

It’s still on the home page. You can see it if you click on the Portfolio123 logo link on the top left.

Would it be possible to (a) add some basic technical indicators (e.g. a couple of moving averages) to the interactive chart of a portfolio; and (b) make it possible to enlarge the main chart?

I, for one, would prefer it to be on a thin bar on all pages like in the old design.

Also, I miss being able to go right to the snapshot or fundamental chart page from the data tab. Now you have to go to advanced stock search, type in the ticker, then click on it–three steps instead of one.

Lastly, is there a possibility that we’ll one day be able to download the data that goes into making the charts on the fundamental chart page?

Minor Tweak Request

Could you make it possible to close the Simulated Portfolios Folder in the Models Interface?

Also, when I open a portfolio the Portfolio Navigation Bar goes away completely, would it be possible to keep it visible as is the case in the current implementation?

I would change the menu order to the following so you can display the creation flow correctly:

  1. Data
  2. Tools
  3. Components
  4. Portfolios
  5. Trade
  6. Support

The menu order looks correct. Ergonomics has nothing to do with creation flow but with quick access to the most used and most crucial features,
usually from the top left corner.

I would prefer direct access to “messages”, “affiliate” and “earnings” tabs with 3 menu items below “Designer Dashboard”.

Is it possible to increase the font size of these hyper-links? They are fine for a mouse but a little too small for touchscreen (tablet). This is very convenient method to navigate between sims or ports.

Thanks.

Are you talking about enlarging the chart on the “Charts” page or the “Summary” page?

The idea is that you would type a ticker in the search bar and then click follow the link from the results to take you to the snapshot of the ticker you are looking for (as opposed to seeing the snapshot for IBM every time and THEN changing to the ticker).

If you click on the folder icon you should be able to collapse the Simulated Portfolios category - do you mean have it closed by default?
Also, you can click the gray bar on the left to open the category navigation when you have a portfolio open.

We’re trying to improve the toolbar with the category breadcrumbs.

Thanks all for trying the beta and the suggestions.

The charts page but, to me, this would only really be necessary if it were possible to plot some simple indicators against the equity curve. Ideally I would like to be able to reference the equity curve in buy / sell rules but that, I know, is beyond a ‘simple’ interface improvement. A visual aid to how the port is doing against a reference point is the next best thing.

When will the new simulation capabilities with variable ranking be put onto the beta site?

Thanks
Steve

In the old format it was easy to see whether or not you needed to save a screen or universe or ranking system because the word “save” would either be light or dark. Now that feature is gone. Is there a way to bring it back?

Other than moving the buttons around a bit, what has changed?
