EPS Excluding Extraordinary Items is earnings per share including all expenses with the exception of those deemed extraordinary. This is what we use as our default for earnings per share in most functions.
This field is calculated using net income, including all expenses but excluding extraordinary items, subtracting preferred dividend payments, and using fully diluted shares.
The most common source of extraordinary items in recent accounting is discontinued operations.
