I know you have done the example of price weighted with goog ebay amzn yhoo… But I want to do the same with ETFs. Can you allow this for ETFs plz? That way I can make a custom index like EEM SPY TLT for example. Thanks
While not convenient to do, you can do a Cap-weighted or equal dollar weighted index using the approach laid out in the post entitled, “Custom Benchmark / Index”. Equal dollar weighted always seemed to me the most unrealistic unless you could manually set the rebalancing period. Otherwise, it would rebalanced daily which is difficult to achieve in the real world.
