Remove 3D effect on the ranking system performance chart Reply to this Post

I usually use 50 or 99 bars when I create a performance chart for a ranking system. The shadows from the 3D effect makes it hard to distinguish between the bars. It would be much easier to read if the 3D feature was turned off.

I did not know I can set more than 10 buckets there. On the setting label it says 2-10.
Certainly a useful feature.
I personally am not bothered that much of the 3d effect since I am looking for an overall quality fo the system that should be indicated by increasing levels towards the right side of the scale.

Marco,

Dan and I (and many others) spend significant time trying to optimize Ranking Systems by changing one or two factors at a time. The performance plots are the best way to determine if a change in one factor makes the Ranking System better or worse.

With the 3D effects it is difficult to tell if a factor change makes any difference. We only expect any individual factor to make a small difference. However many small improvements can add up to a much improved Ranking System. If we can't tell the difference in small improvements, we can’t end up with a better Ranking System.

As an Engineer, I have always felt that 3D effects are for Marketing, not for analysis!

We'll remove the 3d effect. Never really liked it myself, it was one of those things you use just because they are there.
