Marco [On following morning, the problem had cleared. I'll let you know if it reappears. Thank You, jpg] In some way the downloaded xls files have changed and become "harder to open and import into excel". Previuoiusly I was able to create the standard import masks (?) that allowed the downloaded file to open, and be in xls format...ie values were in their individual cells. This feature no longer works. The rows are in strings. In order to open P123 downloaded xls files I have to now use an override method by holding the shift key and then enter to action to "Open" these fiiles fully parsed. I know at first thought one would think it would be the operator or his machine etc etc. However I have been and continue to download excel files dialy form another data source. The other source has never even "glitched" in well over ten years. Note this problem used to appear infrequently off and on. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Capnpaul at Apr 26, 2008 6:45:18 AM] |

Marco Problem remains active My P123 downloaded files all refuse to keep the correct delimiter (tab or space work well). Upon opening a downloaded file, the delimiter is always the colon, and since it is incorrect , the file opens in string format. IMHO it would appears to me that the colon delimiter is somehow being enforced in the P123 downloaded .xls file format ?? |

We cannot reproduce this on our end. What operating system are you on and what version of Excel? Did you recently install a new version of Excel or are you on a new operating system? We've been using the following headers to tell the browser what type of attachment is being downloaded: response.setContentType("APPLICATION/OCTET-STREAM"); response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=screen.xls"); Not sure why we chose "APPLICATION/OCTET-STREAM", but nothing here enforces the delimiter. On Yahoo they use ContentType of "text/csv" and the files has comma separators. Another option might be to use "application/vnd.ms-excel" as the ContentType. We'll play around with different options. ---------------------------------------- Portfolio123 Staff |

FWIW, I download frequently (ie daily) from Screener and Ports to Excel and have never had a problem (Excel2000, WinXP, Firefox) Good luck Lindsay |

I've encountered problems before using the download function for ranked results when using a very large ranking system with lots of factors. FYI in case it proves helpful. |
