benchmark errors? Reply to this Post

Is this an error, or a misunderstanding?

I have simulations with bench of S&P500 specified, but the result page indicates

Benchmark Return xx%

and

Correlation with Dow Jones 0.XX

and

DJIA benchmark plotted on graph (so it says).

??

SYMPTOM UPDATE

When I want a modified sim, I have the habit of clicking the "re-run" link and renaming, (instead of the "run sim" link, which is really "create a clone and edit").

This seems to work with all params but the bench, which seems to be eternally locked to the original benchmark regardless of how many times one changes it.

However, if the new sim is created by use of the "create a clone and edit" link, the issue sticky benchmark seems to not exist.

If using "rerun" to create a new sim is continued to be permitted, then the sticky benchmark should be fixed.

My selected benchmark and the bencmark used in the simulation continues to freeze and refuse to allow change. I need some help on this.

Garry,

I have not been able to reproduce. Here are my steps:

- Pick a sim
- Click on Re-run Sim
- Go to Step 1
- Change the name to a new name
- Change the bnechmark
- Run sim

The result seems to be a new sim with the benchmark as selected.

Marco,

I've noticed some similar behavior. In my case it is not the Benchmark that seems to be wrong but the Universe. For example, in my Sim PR3000, the Universe shows up as Russell 3000 when I click on Trading System link - however when I go "Re Run Sim" it shows up on that page as ADR - when I go to edit this it shows as Russ3000 as it should be. I think all the calcs are correct but the display is wrong.

Good luck

Lindsay

Marco,

Like some other things with P123 I believe to notice, I also cannot reproduce this, but it certainly was failing when the original post was placed, as it happened over and over to me, all day long.

There seem to be a few instabilities that are difficult to track down. One thing I have become suspicious of, but not confirmed, is that multiple windows may cause some conflicts on the server end.

If it can be broken, I will easily break it. I have a reputation!

Garry, the multiple windows is the cause. It's due to a bad decision we made on how a browser window knows which sim you are working on. When you open a sim in a browser window, then open another browser window and change to a different sim, it alters a shared variable and both windows now point to the same sim.

It has to do with the concept of a session. Depending on how you open a browser they may share the same session or not. If you open a new browser from the "File"->"New Window" both browsers will share the session. If you open a browser from the "Start" menu of windows, they are independent.

We have to re-architect this and it's in our to-do list. Sorry about the inconvenience.
