I keep getting the following error: Scheduled maintenance (aprox. 30min) started at 03:14. Please try again later. It has been coming up for the past 2 hours - it seems likely that there might be a problem if it is only meant to last 30 minutes |

Marcos alarms didn't work again today (evidently). This is becoming an all too frequent occurance. esp. to those of us that depend upon pre market updates! |

Yep. I will be applying for a position with Marco's company - human system checker. Every morning at 4:00 a.m. central time I will get up and make sure everything ran OK. Marco, how much will you pay me? Brian |

The same error is still showing at 9:40am EST. A big maintenance! |

Sorry folks. We did get messages at 2AM, but they stopped which usually means it recovered. Not sure why they stopped. It's reloading now and should be back by 10:15AM. We'll add a button on the Server Status page to alert us that will send us a text message. Very sorry for this. ---------------------------------------- Portfolio123 Staff |

Bah, missed the market open again I vote my $0.02 on "please try to sort out these issues that stop us rebalancing from time to time, before working on other features". Secondly, if it's going to take longer than "approx 30 mins" as the generic text in the message says, then perhaps a feature to allow the admins to input a custom estimate might be in order, so we know to start getting the pencil and paper out and not waste time (x however many users there are on here..!) endlessly refreshing the page Ta. Marco, Do I remember you saying that when your expanded data history project is completed, you will no longer be reliant on Reuters? If that's the case, will you be able to perform the daily updates earlier in the evenings? I think this would be desirable for both you and your customers. You could go to bed every night knowing that things ran OK. And we would be able to set up our morning trades before we retire for the evening. Win-win. I guess Reuters wouldn't win, but I haven't been too impressed with their service, anyway. Brian |

Brian, The expansion of the historical data includes the project that calculates ratios from financial statements. we would no longer rely on Reuters for the ratios, but we still need the financials. It would be less data and less problems of course. There are three main parts to the updates: -prices/corporate actions (avail around 11PM) -ratios (avail by 1-2 AM) -financial statements (avail by 1-2 AM) The prices/corporate actions usually finish around 11PM. Once we calculate our own ratios we could make them available around that time. The ratios will be recomputed using the latest prices, and rankings will change. However it will not be perfect because it will not include the most recent financial statements. The number of companies that update financials on any given day is relatively small, so it may work for you. But this will create two slightly different ranking for the same day depending on which time you run it. Having said that we have not tried to optimize the timing of this process. First we need to complete the ratio calculation process, then we can look at optimizing the timing. Marco ---------------------------------------- Portfolio123 Staff |

I think. I'm actually. Going to cry. Missing one rebalance usually doesn't really make mush of a difference but the trade I missed this morning as luck would have it would have put half of that portfolio into QSC - which right now is up 7.55% from the open - would have been the best-yet gain on that portfolio, after a rather painful drawdown too! waaaaaaaaa <bangs fists on carpet> ;( |
