Portfolio percentage return calculation Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Marco: I was looking at the percentage return for one of my ports and was puzzled. It appears that the total return is being calculated on the starting cash amount, despite the fact that further cash has been added along the way. Is this correct? And if so, doesn't it rather skew any results that we see?

Thanks!

Hey Marco, could I get a ruling on whether this calculation is correct or not?

We need to implement a new algorithm to correctly take into account cash transactions. It's called the Internal Rate of Return or IRR . Sorry for the inconvenience.
