confused   I started mid week... will I get buy/sell recommondations before Monday? Reply to this Post

I started with my P123 Value with Momentum 100K portfolio this week, mid week. It is a weekly semi-auto rebalance. It says that rebalance is due in 4 days, mid this coming week.

My question is, will I be able to get the email to rebalance this weekend so I can do my rebalance on Monday morning, and each Monday thereafter? If so when should I expect this email or can I request it manually?

Thanks,
Justin

You can rebalance on today: click "Rebalance" on the menu on the left.

If you have recommendations you can accept and commit them if you want, then the next rebalance will be on the next weekend (assuming you set up a weekly rebalance frequency) and you will receive the automatic email.

If you don't have recommendations then you will receive the email during the week (a week after the last rebalance) and you will need another manual rebalance attempt next weekend.

I balance my ports on Friday due to work schedule... and I just set up some hotmail repeating reminders so I don't need to rely on P123 emails.

no big deal.

Justin,

It is not a great idea to rebalance during weekday. On every Saturday (around noon time pacific time), all the data, including accouitng data for hte previous week, are uploaded, and a rebalanced is done for all the portfolio set to automaticlaly reblance. The date upload every week night (around 9:30pm Pacific Time) is only updating the prices for such day. So if you do a rebalance in the weekday, probably not all the buy and sells rules would work properly. You want to do your rebalance after you have received the weekly emails from P123.

Ok... I have received an email this weekend entitled: "Weekly Performance Report as of 02/23/2007". But in that email were no rebalance buy-sell recommendations for my portfolio.

When I go into my portfolio now, and go to the "Rebalance" option and press "Get Recommendations", it still says "No new recommendations at this time." Is this what I should be getting? I am using the default settings for the $100K Momentum Value portfolio. I set it up mid this past week, and it says my last rebalance date is Feb 21/07 and my next rebalance date is 02/28/07 on Wednesday.

Should the system be showing any new stocks to buy/sell or is it normal this week that I would not have to make any changes? How can I force the system to be sending me the emails every weekend so I can rebalance on Monday?

Thanks
Justin

You get no recommendation because your sell rules are not triggering any sell, and you don't have enough cash to buy other stocks. So the recommendation is "keep what you have".

You are going to receive an automatic email after a week from last rebalance.
Since today you had no recommendations, you didn't do any manual rebalance, so the last rebalance is still last wednesday, so you will get the next email on wednesday.

You will receive an email each wednesday until you will make a manual rebalance on the weekend.

An alternative is to create another portfolio today. You will lose the last 3 days, but it is not a problem.
