I have heard a few people discuss the issue of keeping simulations private. I have mixed feelings on that issue. My concern is that many people stumble on to a simulation with great returns and they begin the process of anomaly isolation, or "tweaking" to get a little bit more out of the numbers. This activity is often times misunderstood to be testing for robustness or regression, which it is not. What good is that without understanding the author’s theory? How much do you understand about the interaction of the buy and sell rules with the ranking system used? In order to help with this issue, I would like to suggest the ability to attach a threaded discussion directly to a portfolio or a simulation. This would be an expansion of the “About” feature which nobody seems to use. This would allow a discussion that engages the author of the simulation or portfolio to help others understand the author’s position, and to create new ideas. Very useful indeed. Thanks again for your suggestions. This one might take a little longer than your previous ones ![]() ---------------------------------------- Portfolio123 Staff |
