There are many reasons to have such extra flexibility in system designs. Here is one: The ranking often includes parameters that should be regarded differently when buying vs when selling a stock. For example, many successful ranking systems give high marks to low institutional holding (“hidden gems”). That’s a big positive when we want to buy a company with solid fundamentals that hasn’t been discovered yet, because it may mean that we could climb up more once discovered. But when institutions finally discover the gem and start buying, the rank for inst%own in such ranking systems drops… Should that drop signal a sell? Of course not! But when you only have one rank to consider in your selling rules, the system would regard lower rank - whether it is from a negative data like drop in EPS or whether it is from a positive data such as increase in institutional ownership - in the same manner, and that may be very far from optimal. So if we had the ability to use a second ranking system for selling rules would could make that rank a bit different – eliminate the “low visibility” nodes or even replace them with “high visibility” node, hence have the best of both worlds – get a buy signal for a hidden gem, and avoid a premature sell signal when the gem gets discovered just before it takes off. Great Idea. Another example would be when you use technical analysis. An example would be to buy a company with great fundamentals in a technical oversold situation, say stochastic breakout or low but rising RSI. It would be difficult to incorporate this into a ranking system as these indicators would relatively quickly decrease the rank as the stock price rise, even though you would be nowhere near a sell. I believe strongly in combining fundamentals and tech. analysis into a ranking system rather than using hard limits in the buy sell rules. |

Dear all, This request has just been re-opened, please take a moment to review and comment or vote on it. It addresses what I believe is a key issue in our ranking-based systems because buy and sell rules require some different factors for best results. Implementing the request would provide us with great flexibility for developing better systems, and just as important – technically it should be among the easier requests to fulfill. Thanks, Z. |

This is a good feature request. For instance, Rank1 finds a situation which indicates a good stock/date to buy; Rank 2 is the sell rule, but is based on different logic. Good request, Zvi. It would unlock a lot of potential in P123. |
