I found a troubling point relating to Ranking that I found with one of my Portfolios. In one of my portfolios, I have PENN a Casinos & Gaming company. In my last rebalance I noticed that the Balanced4 ranking had dropped to 81.7. Since I was curious as to what I might see in a graph of price and rank and I was interested in alternates to PENN, I went to HOME and entered PENN in the RANK ANALYSIS box With the ranking method set to Balanced 4. This brought up the PENN graph which showed PENN ranked at 81.7 and 5 other companies in Casinos ang gaming as follows with rqnks: ISLE=98.5 MCRI=95.43 DDE=94.90 MGAM=94.24 SNDS=92.02 Since I was interested in seeng a bigger list of Casinos and Gaming stocks I went to RANKING and chose Balancsed4. Then I chose RANKS and set the INDUSTRY box to Casinos and Gaming and hit the GET button. I then got the following top five stocks with ranks: MCRI=98.97 ISLE=97.92 PENN=96.02 MGAM93.91 DDE=93.00 As you sese, different values for rank are coming up and now PENN is ranked at 96.02. I am getting two values for rank using the same ranking system but with two approaches to get the rank values. How can this be and which one is right? ---------------------------------------- gmealey |

They're both right, depending on how you treat NA's. |

gmealey, When you go to Rank in the left column you can select either "Keep N/As" or "From Previous Quarter" in the NA's from Pre-Announcements box on the top right. The P123 Ranking Systems are set up to default to "From Previous Quarter" Since that is a more accurate way to rank the stocks. However, your Port will use whichever way you set it up when you created it. Most of the member's older Ports will be using "Keep N/As" if they were created before the "From Previous Quarter" option was added. You can change this by editing your Port's Trading System.
