You can get the avg for a given date by using the screener and setting the universe to Sp500. See my screen 'ROE for SP500'. Just run that and export the result to Excel. Current avg is 30.2.
I dont know any way to calculate it for each date like if you wanted a rule in your screen like RoeTTM>SP500 avg TTM.
